CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- Trevecca Nazarene scored a goal each in the first and second half and that was enough to propel them to a 2-0 victory over the Covenant women's soccer team in an NCCAA Mid-East Region semifinal match on Friday evening.
With the loss, Covenant ends the season at 15-5-1 overall. Trevecca moves on to the championship match on Saturday at 6 p.m.
Trevecca's Kayla VanEs scored in the 24th minute of play and then the Trojans' Alex Hammond added an insurance goal in the 83rd minute to make it 2-0.
Covenant keeper Lucy Johnson made three saves. Covenant could manage just two shots, one each from seniors Hannah Weichbrodt and Katelyn Newsome.
Despite the loss, the Lady Scots had a phenomenal season. Covenant finished just one win short of tying a school record for wins and the Lady Scots claimed a share of the GSAC regular season title with a 9-1 conference mark.
