MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Lady Scots traveled to take on the Huntingdon College Lady Hawks (10-6, 5-2 GSAC) on Saturday afternoon. After coming off their first win in the last few games, the Lady Scots (5-11, 4-4 GSAC) came prepared to play their conference foe. Though Covenant led at halftime, the final score ended in Huntingdon's favor, 72-63.
The first half went back and forth, and with ten minutes remaining Covenant trailed by five points. Thanks to a 3-pointer from Margaret Cross, Covenant took a 36-33 lead going into halftime.
During the second half, Covenant led by as many as eight points with just over 13 minutes left in regulation. The Lady Hawks came back to take a three point lead that was quickly ended by Jessie Blankenship's 3-point shot that tied the game at 54-54. Thanks to a couple of layups, Huntingdon went on an 8-0 run to go up 65-56 with 2:57 left and would not look back again.
Blankenship earned another double-double, her third of the year, with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Ruth Gibson had a fantastic game with 13 points and six rebounds. Jessica Chittenden trailed close with 12 points and seven rebounds.
Huntingdon's bench points reached 46 as Sekal Ousley led the Lady Hawks' offense with 16 points.
Covenant returns home for a game on Wednesday, January 25, against Piedmont College. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
