MARYVILLE, Tenn. -- The Covenant Lady Scots volleyball team travelled to Maryville College on Wednesday to play a long match against Maryville College. Covenant lost each of the 3 games by close scores of 25-22, 26-24, and 30-28, making their Lady Scot counterparts fight hard the entire evening.
Most of Covenant's players got into the scorebook Wednesday, including Erica Adams (8 kills) Jessie Jakes (7 kills) and Emily Stewart (5 kills). Estes Carlson continued her hard work in the backcourt, racking up 22 digs against Maryville's attack. Jakes had 14. Despite these performances, Maryville managed double-doubles from Kristin Findley (20 kills, 11 digs) and Kara Strickland (11 kills, 15 digs), causing problems for the visiting Lady Scots.
Findley led the night on the attack with her 20 kills and .421 attack percentage. Covenant's Carlson had the most digs, 22. Senior Kristin Dahlstrand also performed well, accumulating 26 assists on the night. Despite the loss, Covenant played well and forced Maryville to give one of their best efforts of the season; and with the win, Maryville head coach Kandis Schram earned her 600th career coaching victory.
The Lady Scots record now stands at 5-3, with their next match slated for September 16 in Sewanee, Tennessee, where they will compete against The University of the South.
