LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Coming off a tough loss on Friday night, the Covenant Lady Scots volleyball team looked to get back to their winning ways on Saturday as they hosted Oglethorpe University.
 
The Lady Scots did just that and dominated the whole match as they routed the Lady Petrels 3-0 (25-16, 25-11, 25-20) and improved their record to 4-6 on the season.
 
It was clear from the very beginning that the Lady Scots were the better team in this one.  Covenant jumped out to a quick 4-1 lead in the first set after a kill from Erica Adams.  The Lady Scots continued to stretch out their lead over the course of the game and eventually ended it on a kill from Emily Stewart to win the first game.
 
As bad as the first set was for Oglethrope though, the second one was even worse.  Covenant again got out of the gate strong by scoring the first five points of the set, and 10 of the first 12 points to go up 10-2 on the Lady Petrels. Oglethorpe cut the Lady Scots' lead to 15-9, but Covenant then went on another 10-2 run to finish off the second set and go up 2-0 in the match.
 
Oglethorpe battled in the third set and led 15-12 after a Lady Scots' error.  Covenant then rattled off seven consecutive points to take a 19-15 and would never look back from that point on.  Emily Stewart's kill, assisted by Kristin Dahlstrand, ended the match and gave the Lady Scots a clean sweep of the Lady Petrels.  Covenant is now 2-0 this year against Oglethorpe and will face them again on November 11.
 
Covenant's Erica Adams led all players with 14 kills, and Kristin Dahlstrand added to her team lead in assists with 25.  Dahlstrand now averages an impressive 7.05 assists per game.
 
Laura Landry led Oglethorpe with 10 kills with Trupti Patel recording 11 digs for the Lady Petrels.
 
Covenant will next play on Tuesday night against University of the South at Barnes Gymnasium with the match starting at 7:00.
