Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Lady Scots Fall to Defending National Champs Lee University 5-1

The Covenant College Lady Scots soccer team was hoping to finally play its first home game of the season on Wednesday, but the weather would not comply.  So, the team was forced to change the location of the game to Lee University, where they would play the defending NAIA national champions on a dryer surface.  The Scots entered the game looking for a big win to improve on their 1-1-2 record, but it was not to be.  Just five minutes into the game, Lee University's Jamie Achten netted to put the Flames up 1-0, a feat she repeated fifteen minutes later for a two goal lead.  Christiane Christensen added a third on the stroke of halftime for a 3-0 Lee University lead at the break.  The second half began brightly for the Lady Scots, though, as senior Jenny Carter scored to cut the deficit to two.  However, Lee University's Savannah Neely would score ten minutes later, and Christensen netted her second goal of the game to put Lee up 5-1 and effectively end the game.  With the loss, the Lady Scots now fall to 1-2-2 on the season, and will look to rebound when they face Georgetown College this Saturday at home.
