Lookout Mountain, GA - Although it took twelve innings, the Yellow Jackets of Cedarville University were able to top the Scots this evening, scoring their fifth run, the game's deciding run, in the top of the twelfth inning and taking the game, 5-4.
Senior Blaine Newton hit his first home run of the season, while senior John Whitehead went 1-5 with a run scored and an RBI and junior Thomas O'Ban went 2-5 with an RBI, providing Covenant with it's offense on the night.
After the game's starter, sophomore Chris Greer had a rough start, giving up three runs in three and two-thirds innings, walking four, the bullpen did well, led by Wesley McDowell's five-inning scoreless performance, coming in to pitch eight and a third innings, giving up just one run. Unfortunately, however, it was the game's winning run, given up by freshman Max Benton, who took the loss.
Covenant falls to 2-5 with the loss and will take on Emmanuel College in their next game, taking place on Saturday, February 21st.
