Bristol, VA - The Scots are no longer winless in Appalachian Athletic Conference play after picking up a big win over the host Cobras of Virginia Intermont College, taking the contest by a score of 78-75.
Their first victory since a November 22nd win against Urbana College has the Scots feeling positive heading into the rest of the season with five games, all in-conference, remaining before the conference tournament.
Covenant won with solid defense and a balanced scoring attack, with all eight players who entered the game finishing with at least seven points. Sophomore Davis Eldridge had a great shooting night to lead the Scots, finishing with 22 points on 7-13 shooting including five three-pointers made in just 28 minutes. Freshman Brock Barber, seeing increased minutes due to an injury to senior Chris Hall, played a team-high 34 minutes and scored a season-high ten points.
Covenant is now 2-23 on the season. They will be at home for their next contest, a February 11th matchup against Montreat College, taking place at 7:30 PM.
