Lookout Mountain, GA - The Scots played well in a Saturday night game against Bluefield College, actually outscoring the Rams in the second half, but couldn't overcome a 19-point halftime deficit, losing 90-108.
Led by Curtis Dixon and his 32 points, coming on 13-20 shooting (6-9 from three) in just 23 minutes, Bluefield's uptempo offense was too much for Covenant to handle as the Rams jumped out to an early lead and never relinquished it.
Senior
Reed Crosson exploded for a season-high 34 points to lead the Scots, fittingly on Covenant's Senior Night. In 36 minutes, the fourth-year guard shot 10-19, making eight of fourteen three-point attempts and a perfect six of six free-throw attempts, while grabbing six rebounds and coming up with three steals.
Freshman
Brock Barber also set a season-high mark with fourteen points. He came down with seven rebounds and was huge on the defensive end, blocking six shots. Also in double-figures for the Scots were
Davis Eldridge and
Stephen Buchanan who each had twelve points on the night. Sophomore Dominique McGaughhey facilitated the Covenant offense, collecting ten assists.
Covenant ends the year with an overall record of 2-28 and a 1-17 record in conference.
The Scots will take the court again on Wednesday, February 25th in first-round action of the Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament.
