Barbourville, KY - 31 points from sophomore guard Davis Eldridge was not enough for the Scots to top the host Bulldogs of Union College Saturday, as they lost by a score of 70-94.
Covenant, now 2-25 on the year, went into halftime with a fifteen point deficit and never caught up. A solid shooting night by the Scots (45%) was overshadowed by a more impressive performance by the Bulldogs, who shot 56%.
Eldridge, who went 10-20 from the field on the night and sank six of his twelve three-point attempts, was joined by Stephen Buchanan and Reed Crosson as the only Scots in double figures. Buchanan, despite reaching the double-figure scoring plateau in six of the past seven games, shot just 4-12 from the field and made just two of his five free-throw attempts. Crosson shot 4-10 including 3-8 from beyond the arc.
Union was led by Ryne Bretz and Kearney Demus, who scored sixteen points apiece for the home team. Covenant (2-25, 1-15) will travel to Maryville College for their last road contest of the regular season on Monday, February 16th.
