Mobile, AL; Hattiesburg, MS- Fall break saw the Covenant College Lady Scots soccer team take to the road for matches against the University of Mobile and William Carey University. In their first game, Covenant found themselves down early after Mobile's Missy Stovall scored in just the fourth minute of play. Senior Jenny Carter would equalize just two minutes later after beating the Mobile defense to slide home her team leading fourth goal of the year, but the score would remain level until the fifty-second minute when Christy Lachappelle fired home the eventual game winner beyond Bethany Holman's reach. Mobile's Stovall would score her second of the game in the 77th minute to ensure victory for her team and drop the Lady Scots to a 5-4-2 record for the season.
Two days later the Lady Scots traveled down the road to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to face the NAIA's number six ranked team in William Carey. Having lost only one game the entire season, William and Carey posed a serious threat to Covenant, and it was a threat that would turn into reality after just twenty-eight minutes of play when Jeana Erickson collected a pass from Courtney Brinson to put W&C up 1-0. Brinson then turned scorer in the 56th to double their advantage at 2-0. Covenant would register seven shots of their own, but were unable to put the ball beyond W&C goalkeeper Jackie DeNova to cut the deficit. Then, in the 71st minute, Jeana Gilbert fired home William and Carey's third goal of the match to seal the deal for the home side. The loss marked Covenant's second in as many games, and now drops the Lady Scots to 5-5-2 on the season. They will next face AAC rival Montreat at home this Saturday.
