Lookout Mountain, GA - The Scots played well tonight, but lost to a solid Berry sqaud at home this evening. The victims of a misleading final score, the Scots had the game close numerous times, even cutting Berry's lead down to four with just under ten minutes left, but watched Berry extend their lead from the free-throw line after having to foul in the final minutes.
Freshman guard J.R. Avery led the Scots tonight with sixteen points on 6-15 shooting and added five rebounds, three assists and three steals, while committing just one turnover in 27 minutes on the night. Senior guard Reed Crosson struggled to the tune of a 2-13 shooting night but still managed to contribute with eleven points. Senior forward Chris Hall had ten points and eight rebounds and freshman forward Matt Taylor continued to be a force on the glass, grabbing twelve rebounds to go along with his six points.
After the loss, head coach Nathan Kirkpatrick commented, "I thought we played hard in spurts tonight, we just couldn't sustain it. Give credit to Berry. They hit some big shots and finished the game." The Scots fall to 0-3 on the young season. They will take on NCAA Division I school Samford University in their next game, taking place on Thursday, November 6th at 8:00 PM.
