Athens, TN - Falling to 0-6 overall, the Scots lost their second conference game of the season Wednesday night, falling to the Bulldogs of Tennessee Wesleyan College. The teams went back and forth all night, trading leads and scoring runs and although it appeared as though it wouldn't be the case, the Scots went into halftime trailing, down 27-29 after a last second, desperation three-pointer from the Bulldogs. The second half held more of the same close competition, but ended with the Scots down seven after not being able to close it out.
Senior Chris Hall, coming off of an injury in Covenant's last contest, led the offense, scoring eighteen points and grabbing six rebounds. Coming off of three straight 20-plus point games, freshman J.R. Avery struggled Wednesday, scoring just five points and committing six turnovers before fouling out late in the second half. Sophomore Davis Eldridge scored eleven points on 3-6 shooting from three-point range and freshmen Matt Taylor and Brock Barber each pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.
Jessee Booher led the Bulldogs with 23 points on 8-14 shooting, going 5-8 from behind the arc.
