Jon Gin completed his second season as the assistant coach for head coach Skylar Bareford in 2020-21.

Gin came to Covenant after spending three seasons as an assistant coach for the women's basketball program at NCAA Division II member Gannon University.

"I just want to thank God for giving me this incredible opportunity," Gin said at the time of his hiring. "When I first came to the mountaintop I knew Covenant College was a special place. I'm grateful that Dr. Tim Sceggel and head coach Skylar Bareford welcomed me into the Covenant family."

At Gannon, Gin helped the program to winning seasons in each of the last two years. He was responsible for all aspects of recruiting and was also instrumental in implementing defensive principles. During Gin's time, Gannon ranked first in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) in defensive rebounding and second in defensive efficiency. During his tenure, Gannon had four All-PSAC West performers, including the PSAC West Freshman of the Year, while collecting 31 conference victories.

"We are so excited to have Jon join our program," said Bareford. "He brings a wealth of coaching experience at the collegiate level, and it was clear throughout the search process that Jon would help us in every area moving forward. Jon has a great heart, contagious energy, and a selfless attitude. I am excited to work with him to continue building a Christ-centered and service-oriented program together."

Prior to Gannon, Gin served as a top assistant with Moravian Prep Academy in 2015-16. He also spent two seasons as a women's basketball assistant coach at Trevecca Nazarene (2013-15). The Trojans went 36-19 overall and 28-4 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) action during his time on the sideline and produced 14 conference scholar-athletes, five all-conference selections, and one regular-season championship during Gin's two seasons.

Gin began his basketball career during his undergraduate days at the University of North Florida when he served as a Florida State Basketball Camp Event Coordinator in 2010. He then served as the Intern of Basketball Operations and Video Coordinator at UNF in 2012.

"I'm excited for a coaching role that combines my passion for basketball with my passion for God," Gin added. "I can't wait to build lasting relationships with the women that will allow me to invest in their lives both on and off the court."

Gin holds a bachelor of science degree in sport management from the University of North Florida ('12) and a master's degree in management from Trevecca Nazarene ('15).
