Mae Mae is one of three senior captains leading the Lady Scots this season. Her leadership and encouragement to younger players has helped the team's chemistry early on in the season. After a season ending knee injury in her junior year, Mae Mae has come back strong for her senior year and continues to become more and more comfortable stabilizing the midfield on the pitch. Prior to Covenant, Mae Mae played soccer at Trinity Presbyterian School, along with her younger sister Lulu, who is now a sophomore goalkeeper for the Lady Scots.
Her parents are Fred and Lucy Johnson. Mae Mae is one of five children; in order from oldest to youngest: Clayborne, Franklin, Emily, (then Mae Mae), and Lulu. Off the field, Mae Mae is very active in Covenant College's Fellowship of Christian Athletes, having helped organize and lead the group in her freshman year. One of her favorite Bible passages is 1 Corinthians 15:54-58 which says, "...Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain (v. 58)." When not playing soccer, Mae Mae enjoys playing spikeball, cooking, and dressing up like Ke$ha.
Mae Mae is a Biology major with a Biomedical concentration. She is also minoring in Chemistry. After medical school, she would like to be a doctor of Osteopathy concentrating on pediatrics.
