HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- This week, Covenant cross country traveled to Alabama to race at the Southern Showcase held at John Hunt Park, which will be the site of the 2026 CCS Conference Championship meet, landing inside the top 10 in both the men's and women's races.
On the men's side, the now 7th ranked team in the South Region placed 10th out of 28 teams, led by Senior Aidan DeVries (42nd) who ran a personal best time of 27:37 for the eight kilometer. Not far behind DeVries was freshman Hudson Casto, who debuted in the 8k with a time of 27:50 (51st).
Jack Miller (62nd) finished 11 seconds back from Casto in 28:01 for a personal best. Rounding out the top 5 for the Scots were Jack Dupree (85th, 28:32) and Nate Headley (87th, 28:34). This was also Headley's 8k debut.Â
The other finishes for the Scots were Sam Richards (111th, 28:58), Bradley Brooks (114th 29:03), Troy Daniel (121st, 29:14), and Caleb Koerber (138th, 29:36). The men earned their second win this season against local rival school Sewanee in this meet, as well as Millsaps, who competes in the South Region.Â
The women were led to a 6th place finish by sophomore Sarah Vannoy (11th), who ran 19:25 for the five kilometer. Evangelia Berry (28th, 20:07), was second for the Scots and netted valuable points toward a quality team finish.
A trio of freshmen rounded out the top five as Evie Fikkert (49th, 20:56), Ella Potoshnick (54th, 21:07), and Talia Carrillo (80th, 21:48) all took advantage of their collegiate 5k debuts.Â
Other finishers for the Scots include Kenzi Stapleton (81st, 21:49), Aida Okie (109th, 22:36), and Emerson Tillery (112th, 22:48). This women's squad also notched a couple of wins against Division I programs at this meet.

The Scots have a week off before traveling up the road to Sewanee to compete in the Mountain Goat Invitational on October 3rd.
