MARYVILLE, Tenn. – Covenant traveled to Maryville for their second straight conference match on the road. The matches were tightly contested throughout but ultimately it was the Covenant Scots who pulled away for a 6-1 win.
Covenant started off hot in doubles as Ben Onufrock and Caleb Domkowski defeated James Smith and Steven Fitzsimmons 6-3 at the top spot. The Scots clinched the doubles point at the number three position as Gavin Patton and Lincoln Shine beat Grant Price and Benjamin Schneider 6-4.
Maryville avoided the doubles sweep as Jackson Meyer and Field Myatt knocked off Graham Hayes and Brock Boehling 6-4 at number two.
Covenant extended it's lead to 2-0 as Boehling bounced back from his doubles defeat to take down Myatt 6-4, 6-2 at the number three spot. Maryville got their first match of they day from Price as he downed Hayes 6-1, 6-1 at number two.
Domkowski battled with Smith at the top spot and ultimately came away with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 win to put Covenant one match away.
The Scots got the clinch from Patton as he rallied from a set and a break down to defeat Fitzsimmons 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 at the number four spot. Four-time CCS Rookie of the Week, Lincoln Shine, defeated Luka Romano 7-6(3), 7-5 at the five spot to put Covenant up 5-1.
Jacob Eldridge held down the six spot and was able to beat Eric Vornhagen 6-2, 6-3.
