BEMOREST, Ga. - Covenant traveled to Demorest to take on Piedmont in their first road conference match of the season. The Scots weren't able to overcome the Lions as they took their first conference loss of the year.
Piedmont dominated at all three lines in doubles as they overwhelmed the Scots at the net. Sarah Row and Brooklyn Bolch put the first result on the board as they earned a 6-1 win at number three doubles over Christina English and Katie Cummings.
Piedmont's number two doubles team clinched the doubles point as Caroline Morrison and Sarah Sanabia beat Landry McKinney and Ora Hall 6-2. The Lions finished off the doubles sweep as Kaleigh Stallworth and Ella Kate Canaday defeated Maisie Tanchanpongs and Estee Verdery 6-2.
Jordan Ballard didn't waste any time extending the Lions lead as she beat English 6-0, 6-0 in the five slot. Olivia Carpenter had similar success in the six spot as she put Piedmont one win away from the match with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Hall.
Canaday ultimately was the one to clinch as she defeated Verdery 6-1, 6-1 in the number two match. Hattie Sloyan extended Piedmont's lead as she knocked off Cummings 6-0, 6-2 at the number four spot. Morrison and McKinney battled in the number three slot but ultimately Morrison won the match 6-2, 6-3.
Covenant's lone win came at the number one spot as Tanchanpongs put on an impressive performance to beat Stallworth 6-2, 6-2.
