MARYVILLE, Tenn. -- Covenant played their third consecutive conference road match as they traveled to Maryville. The Scots started fast, but were unable to hold on as Maryville came back for a 5-2 win.

The Scots started strong in doubles as they swept all three courts to give themselves momentum going into singles. Maisie Tanchanpongs and Estee Verdery battled to a 6-4 win at the top spot over Calliana Kondolios and Mckena Spencer.

Ora Hall and Landry McKinney got the job done at the number two spot as they beat Maggie Hackney and Clara Plass 6-1. Katie Cummings and Christina English held down the three spot and earned a 6-4 win over Josie McRae and Jasmine Muecke. 

Tanchanpongs extended the Covenant lead to 2-0 as she won decisively over Kondolios by a score of 6-2, 6-0. Plass put Maryville's first point on the board as she defeated Verdery 6-2, 6-1 at the two spot. Maryville evened the match at 2-2 as Spencer knocked off McKinney 6-2, 6-0 at number three.

Muecke put Maryville one match away as she beat Cummings 6-4, 6-1 at the number four spot. The clinch finally came from Hackney, as she defeated English 6-2, 6-1 at number five. McRae capped off the comeback with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Hall at line six.

The Scots return to the mountain for another conference tilt with LaGrange at 11 a.m. tomorrow.
