SEWANEE, Tenn. --Â Cross country traveled to nearby Sewanee to compete in the Mountain Goat Invitational against several other South Region teams, including many ranked inside the top 10.
The No. 9-ranked men were led by Hudson Casto, as the freshman placed 6th with a personal record of 26:49. Aidan DeVries continued his senior campaign with a 9th place finish, running a PR of 27:16.
Freshmen Caleb Koerber (12th, 27:26) and Nate Headley (24th, 28:14) both finished with PRs and recorded their best team finishes of the year. Jack Miller (25th, 28:17), Jack Dupree (26th, 28:17) and Bradley Brooks (30th, 28:38) rounded out the top seven finishers for the Scots, who placed third in a stacked field behind the No. 6 and No. 10 teams in the region.Â
Additionally on the men's side, Grayson Lines (43rd, 29:30), Jack Woodham (46th, 29:44), Ken Foos (47th, 29:47), David Nicolau (50th, 30:07), and Silas Crowe (66th, 31:25) all recorded personal bests over the weekend.Â
The women placed second overall, only losing to the fourth ranked team in the region, Rhodes, by only nine points. Sarah Vannoy ran a PR of 24:00 to place fourth overall, while Evangelia Berry wasn't far behind with a season best time of 24:18 and a 6th place finish.
The top five finishers for the Scots were rounded out by a trio of freshmen, who all achieved personal bests: Ella Potoshnick (9th, 24:33), Evie Fikkert (15th, 25:13), and Talia Carrillo (18th, 25:40). Kenzi Stapleton (21st, 25:57), and Emerson Tillery (23rd, 26:24) closed out the scorers with season best times.
In addition to their second place finish, the women also beat Berry, a team that was ranked ninth in the region heading into the meet.Â
Hanna Forrest (35th, 27:15), Cora Zecher (38th, 27:25), and Penelope Bosma (39th, 27:28) all recorded personal bests as well.
UP NEXT
The Scots will participate in two meets on October 17th, with one squad heading north for the Oberlin Interregional Rumble and the other squad staying close to home for the Berry XC Invitational.
