DEMOREST, Ga. -- Covenant volleyball piled up another twin billing sweep on Friday evening, taking down Piedmont, 3-1, to earn the season sweep, and Regent, 3-0, for the second time in 2026.
The Scots (23-2, 11-0 CCS) hit .329 in their match against the Lions (11-11, 2-9 CCS), and .263 against the Royals (13-12), helping spark the two victories.
MATCH ONE: Covenant 3, Piedmont 1
Despite dropping their first set in CCS play of the season, Covenant rallied back to dominate the final three sets to take down Piedmont, 3-1, in their first match of the evening.
Avery Maiden ascended back to the top of the kills department with 14 to lead the Scots, but
Scarlett Martz (10 kills, .474) and
Cali Sandhoff (12 kills, 26 assists, 10 digs) were major factors in the win as well. The triple double for Sandhoff marks her program-record-tying eighth of her career. Defensively,
Henley Gentry posted 22 digs and
Gabby Sumrall four blocks.
After dropping the first set, 25-23, to end their 30-set winning streak in CCS play, the Scots rallied for an 11-4 lead in the second set, and then got two kills and an ace from Sandhoff as part of a final 6-2 stretch to close out the set, 25-15, and tie it up.
The third set was a similar story, as Covenant used a 9-2 run midway through to take a 17-9 lead, and then scored eight of the final 11 to win the set, 25-14, with
Aubrianna Gerdes and Sandhoff recording back-to-back kills to conclude the set.
A 9-1 run in the fourth set gave the Scots plenty of cushion to close the door, and after withstanding a Piedmont run, used another ace from Sandhoff, a kill from Martz, and another from Gerdes to take the set, 25-17, and the match.
Lillian Gaskins posted a match-high 19 kills to lead the Lions, while Hannah Haskins had 14 assists and Rylee Vessell 16 assists.
MATCH TWO: Covenant 3, Regent 0
Covenant swept the Royals for the second time this season, using a dominant first set and then cruising from there.
Aubrianna Gerdes led the way in kills with 12, while adding nine digs.
Cali Sandhoff posted another excellent all-around match, as she had nine kills, 19 assists, and four blocks.
After using several small runs to gradually pull away in the first set, the Scots fully shut the door on the first set with an 8-1 run, capped off by two
Sarah Jennings aces, to win 25-13.
In the second set, Covenant up an 8-3 early advantage, and then a
Kennedy Barber kill midway through extended the lead to 17-7. However, the Royals then found a groove of their own, going on a 11-2 run to make it a one-point set. The Scots, though, scored five of the final seven points to hold on for the 25-21 win and the 2-0 set lead.
The third set opened with both teams playing it close, but a 9-4 run by Covenant gave them some breathing room with a 13-8 lead. From that point on, Regent never got within one point, as the Scots took down the Royals by a 25-20 score to take the match.
For Regent, Claire Keefer had eight kills, while Rylee Stewart added 22 digs and three blocks.
