LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - Covenant returned to its home field, looking to win the series against Emory. The Eagles had other ideas as they accounted for 24 runs across two games to send the Scots into spring break on a losing note.Â
Game 1 Final: Covenant 2, Emory 9
Records: Covenant (9-3), Emory (11-4)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Eagles took the lead in the first inning with an RBI sacrifice fly to right field.Â
- In the second inning with two outs, Emory made a statement with a three-run home run from Aiden Conley to left field.Â
- The Eagles hit another homer in the third inning, this one a solo shot from Blake Dincman to put them up 5-0.
- Covenant was held hitless for the first three innings.
- Emory added three more runs in the fifth inning thanks to an RBI single to right field and a 2-RBI single to left field.Â
- Conley hit another home run for the Eagles to lead off the sixth inning.Â
- Covenant scored its first run in the bottom of the frame as Benjamin Johnson came home from third base on a wild pitch.Â
- Joseph Tolbert drove in a run later in the sixth with an RBI fielder's choice.Â
GAME NOTES:
- RHP Zach Barrett (4 IP, 6 H, 5 ER, 2 BB, 6 K) took the loss in his first start of the season on the bump.Â
- RHP Bruce Giuntoli (0.2 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 1 BB), LHP David Lovell (1 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 1 K), and Isaac Leicht (1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 3 K) each featured out of the bullpen.Â
- Johnson had two of Covenant's four hits for the game as the Scots were outhit 11-4.Â
- RHP Josh Zuckerman (5.1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 9 K) was dominant early on for Emory and earned the win.
Game 2 Final: Covenant 4, Emory 15

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Covenant took a 2-0 lead in the first inning as Josh McCaskill had an RBI single and Daniel Bell delivered an RBI sacrifice fly to left field.Â
- Emory cut the lead to one run in the second inning, scoring a run on a wild pitch.Â
- The Eagles had a runner in scoring position in the third and fourth innings, but RHP Jonathan Glover held firm, keeping the Scots in front for the time being.Â
- In the fourth inning, Covenant went up 4-1 thanks to an RBI single by Elliott Eastin and an RBI fielder's choice from Nate Jones.Â
- Emory kept chipping away in the fifth inning as an RBI single to left field cut the Covenant lead to two runs.Â
- The Eagles took the lead for good in the sixth inning as a bases-loaded 3-RBI double made it 5-4.Â
- Emory exploded for 10 runs in the eighth inning, sending 13 batters to the plate. In the big inning, Jack Halloran hit a two-run home run.Â
GAME NOTES:
- Covenant moves to 11-22 all-time against Emory.
- Glover (5 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 K) gave the Scots a chance to win on the mound with five solid innings of work.
- RHP Brady Daniell (1.2 IP, 1 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 1 K, 2 HBP) made his collegiate debut as one of four relief pitchers the Scots used.Â
- Johnson (2-for-4, 1 R), Sam Cecil (2-for-4, 1 R), Bell (2-for-3, 1 R, 1 RBI), and Roby McClarnon (2-for-4, 1 R) each had two hits for the Scots.Â
- Emory outhit Covenant 15-4.
