Covenant Completes Season Sweep of Sewanee

LOOKOUT Mt, GA - Covenant took on Sewanee for the second time this season, this time at home. The change of scenery didn't make a difference as the Scots completed the season sweep with a 10 point home win.

Final: Covenant 98, Sewanee 88
Records: Covenant (2-8), Sewanee (2-7)

The Tigers came out strong, opening the contest with a commanding 19-5 run. Still trailing by 14 with under three minutes remaining in the half, the Scots responded with an impressive surge of their own, closing the period on an electric 18-4 run. Freshman Bolton Born punctuated the rally with a buzzer-beating three-pointer to send the teams into halftime knotted at 48.

Sewanee appeared to regain momentum early in the second half, opening on a 13-5 run to build an eight-point advantage. Covenant responded, stringing together twelve unanswered points to reclaim the lead. Holding a three-point edge with five minutes remaining, the Scots delivered a pivotal 10-2 run, highlighted by a transition three from Luuk Dusek, to seize control of the contest. Sewanee trimmed the deficit to six late, but that was as close as they would come, as Covenant closed out a 98-88 victory.

Logan Patterson paced the Scots with an outstanding effort, finishing with 23 points on an efficient 8-of-10 shooting while adding four rebounds and three assists. Pierce Smith delivered a well-rounded performance of his own, contributing 13 points, six blocks, and five rebounds. Covenant also received key scoring contributions from Noah Pence (14 points), Korbin Long (13 points), and Luuk Dusek (10 points).

The Scots held a clear edge in shooting efficiency, outpacing Sewanee from the field (45% to 37%) and from beyond the arc (36% to 26%). Covenant also capitalized on the turnover battle, finishing +8 in the margin by forcing 23 Tiger miscues while committing just 15 of their own. Sewanee, however, controlled the boards, posting a 61–40 rebounding advantage.

Covenant moves to 13-15 all time against Sewanee.

UP NEXT: Covenant doesn't take the court again until December 30, where they play an exhibition game at Dalton State.
