The Stormy Petrels set the tone early, opening the contest with a 7-0 run just two minutes into the game. Oglethorpe maintained a steady advantage throughout the first half, keeping the margin between seven and ten points before breaking the game open with an 11-2 surge to extend their lead to 49-32. Pierce Smith provided a spark for Covenant with 10 points in the first half, but the Scots entered halftime trailing 56-36.
Oglethorpe carried their momentum into the second half, pushing their advantage to a game-high 76-44 with 13 minutes remaining. Covenant continued to compete and gradually trimmed the deficit to 15, but the Stormy Petrels ultimately secured a 108-91 victory.
Smith led the Scots with an efficient 17-point performance (7-for-7 FG), adding six rebounds and three blocks. Noah Pence recorded his best outing in a Covenant uniform with 16 points, while Derrius Teagle contributed 13. Another bright spot for the Scots was Cole Carroll, who posted a career-high 11 assists.
Oglethorpe controlled the interior battle with a 54-35 rebounding advantage. Covenant, however, excelled in ball security, finishing +11 in turnover margin by forcing 25 Oglethorpe turnovers while committing just 14. The Stormy Petrels outshot the Scots from the field (57% to 42%) and from beyond the arc (27% to 20%).
Covenant moves to 4-8 all time against Oglethorpe.
