LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - Covenant welcomed Piedmont to campus for its first conference match of the year. After the match was tied at the half, Fox Landgren netted two goals in the final 45 minutes to secure a winning start to CCS play for the Scots. 

Final: Covenant 2, Piedmont 0
Records: Covenant (4-4-3, 1-0 CCS), Piedmont (4-5, 0-2 CCS)

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

• At the 13-minute mark, Piedmont forced Eli Honeycutt into his first save of the night. 
• Covenant had its first good chance of the game in the 21st minute as Sam Conrad's shot drilled the crossbar. 
• In the 38th minute, Tyler Johnson came through on goal, but a good save by the Lions' keeper kept the score level at zero. 
• At the intermission, Covenant had outshot Piedmont 8-6. 
• Landgren scored with a strike from well outside the box into the top right corner in the 48th minute to put the Scots ahead 1-0 and get the crowd off its feet. 
• Less than a minute later, Piedmont nearly equalized as a shot from Davis Knight was cleared off the line by a Covenant defender. 
• In the 86th minute, Landgren cleaned up Johnson's shot that was saved for his second goal of the night, clinching the win for Covenant. 
• Honeycutt made his final save of the evening with less than a minute remaining off the foot of Knight to secure the clean sheet. 

GAME NOTES: 

• Covenant moves to 21-1-1 all-time against Piedmont.
• The Scots outshot the Lions 21-11 and had a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal. 
• Covenant had nine corner kicks while Piedmont had one. 
• Covenant was assessed two yellow cards while Piedmont earned one. 
• Tonight was Landgren's first two-goal game as a Scot.
