LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - For the first of two conference home games this week, Covenant took on Huntingdon, who came into Tuesday night with a 12-2 record. The Hawks showed their skills, as a quick start turned out to be too much for the Scots to reckon with.Â

FIRST HALF:
- Covenant missed its first eight shots of the night, but Huntingdon started on fire, opening out a 17-0 lead in under five minutes.Â
- Kaleb Lofton buried a triple for Covenant's first points of the game to end the scoring drought.Â
- After the Scots made three free throws across a couple of possessions and an inside basket by Lofton they were within 12 points with 10:42 remaining.Â
- Huntingdon responded with a 7-0 run capped off by a 3-pointer to go up 28-9.Â
- The Hawks continued to get in transition as a 6-0 run, all on the fast break put them ahead 37-14.Â
- Later in the half, Fisher Mitchell scored four in a row for the Scots to cut the lead to 45-22.
- A transition dunk ended a 6-0 run to end the half for Huntingdon as it went into the locker room with a 51-22 lead.Â
SECOND HALF:
- After the Hawks scored the first four points of the half, an old-fashioned 3-point play by Colt Donley put the Scots on the board.Â
- Covenant started to keep up with Huntingdon going point-for-point as Logan Patterson made a 3-ball to put the score at 64-33.
- A couple of inside baskets by the Hawks pushed their lead to 70-35 with 12:45 remaining.Â
- The lead remained around 30 points as a Pierce Smith inside bucket followed by a triple from Zach Wescher put the score at 76-48.
- Smith started to get aggressive inside, scoring a quick six points as his team still trailed 84-58.Â
- Huntingdon's final scoring run of the night was a 7-0 run as it led 91-60.Â
- The Hawks reached the century mark with 1:22 left in the game on a layup off a missed free throw.Â
GAME NOTES:Â
- Covenant moves to 19-13 all-time against Huntingdon.
- Patterson was Covenant's leading scorer with 14 points and three made triples.
- Smith was right behind him with 13 points and four blocks.Â
- Ray'Quan Taylor for Huntingdon led all scorers with 25 points and 12 rebounds.Â
- Covenant shot 31.3% (26-83) from the field and 22.9% (8-35) shooting 3-pointers while Huntingdon was 58.4% (45-77) and 30% (6-20) in the same categories.Â
- The Scots were outrebounded 56-41.
