Scots Begin 2024 With Two Wins at Home

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - The Scots opened their season this past weekend and despite dealing with rain delays both nights they found ways to start the season with two wins.

Final: Covenant 4, Hardin-Simmons 2
Records: Covenant (1-0), Hardin-Simmons (0-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Covenant didn't waste any time to get the fun started as Whitt Tisdale picked up right where he left off a year ago with a goal inside 90 seconds assisted by Kade Theunissen.
  • In the 16th minute, Luke Laughlin netted a goal assisted by Theunissen that put the Scots in front 2-0.
  • Theunissen earned his hat trick of assists in the 25th minute as he set up Ty Morgan for another Covenant goal.
  • Hardin-Simmons got one back via a Thomas Saylae goal a few minutes before the intermission to make it 3-1.
  • At the half Covenant had six shots while Hardin-Simmons had five.
  • The Cowboys came out and got another goal, this one from Jakob Fiol in the first six minutes of the second half to pull back within one of the Scots.
  • In the 68th minute, Covenant drew a penalty kick that Laughlin stepped up and fired into the back of the net for his second goal of the match.
  • Hardin-Simmons had four corner kicks in the final 15 minutes of the match, however they only recorded one shot on target during that period of play.

Final: Covenant 2, Brevard 1

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Tornados started the game off with a goal in the fourth minute by Vitor Razera off a corner kick to take the lead.
  • Whitt Tisdale had Covenant's lone two shots of the first half, one of which was on target.
  • 10 minutes into the second half, the Scots were awarded a penalty kick as Kade Theunissen blasted it into the back of the net for his first goal of the year, tying the match at one.
  • Theunissen and Tisdale each had shots in the 77th minute, but neither could get past the Brevard keeper.
  • With a corner kick in the 88th minute, Covenant found the winner as Theunissen passed it to Fox Landgren who made no mistake when his chance came.
