LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - The Scots opened their season this past weekend and despite dealing with rain delays both nights they found ways to start the season with two wins.Â
Final: Covenant 4, Hardin-Simmons 2

HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
- Covenant didn't waste any time to get the fun started as Whitt Tisdale picked up right where he left off a year ago with a goal inside 90 seconds assisted by Kade Theunissen.
- In the 16th minute, Luke Laughlin netted a goal assisted by Theunissen that put the Scots in front 2-0.Â
- Theunissen earned his hat trick of assists in the 25th minute as he set up Ty Morgan for another Covenant goal.Â
- Hardin-Simmons got one back via a Thomas Saylae goal a few minutes before the intermission to make it 3-1.
- At the half Covenant had six shots while Hardin-Simmons had five.Â
- The Cowboys came out and got another goal, this one from Jakob Fiol in the first six minutes of the second half to pull back within one of the Scots.Â
- In the 68th minute, Covenant drew a penalty kick that Laughlin stepped up and fired into the back of the net for his second goal of the match.Â
- Hardin-Simmons had four corner kicks in the final 15 minutes of the match, however they only recorded one shot on target during that period of play.Â
GAME NOTES:Â
- Covenant moves to 1-0 all-time against Hardin-Simmons.
- The Scots outshot the Cowboys 14-10 and had nine shots on target to their five.Â
- Scots goalkeeper Eli Honeycutt tallied three saves.
- Each team committed 10 fouls.
- The Scots had three yellow cards while the Cowboys had two.
- The win marked Laughlin's first career multi-goal game.Â
- This is the second time that Theunissen has posted at least three assists, the other being a school-record four against Berry on 9/13/23.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
- The Tornados started the game off with a goal in the fourth minute by Vitor Razera off a corner kick to take the lead.
- Whitt Tisdale had Covenant's lone two shots of the first half, one of which was on target.Â
- 10 minutes into the second half, the Scots were awarded a penalty kick as Kade Theunissen blasted it into the back of the net for his first goal of the year, tying the match at one.
- Theunissen and Tisdale each had shots in the 77th minute, but neither could get past the Brevard keeper.Â
- With a corner kick in the 88th minute, Covenant found the winner as Theunissen passed it to Fox Landgren who made no mistake when his chance came.Â
GAME NOTES:Â
- Covenant moves to 13-1-2 all-time against Brevard.
- The Scots outshot the Tornados 9-7 and had four shots on goal while they had two.
- Covenant had six corner kicks while Brevard had four.Â
- Landgren's late goal credited him with the third game-winning goal of his career.Â
