BEREA, Ky. - The Scots and Mountaineers battled on Saturday in the rubber match of their final series of the year. Covenant took the lead for good in the third inning and didn't look back to end the regular season on the right note.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After the first two batters of the game reached base, Harrison Adelgren drove in a run, despite grounding into a double play.
- In the second inning, Berea scored two runs on a RBI sacrifice fly followed by a RBI double.
- 2-RBI doubles from Sam Cecil and Daniel Bell highlighted a six-run third inning for the Scots as they took a 7-2 lead. Â
- Covenant extended its lead to eight runs in the fifth inning thanks to a RBI groundout from Kenny Mills, a RBI single from Zeke Gilbert, and a RBI double from Adelgren.
- Darius Dave delivered a two-run home run in the bottom of the frame to make it 10-4.
- The Mountaineers added two more runs in the sixth inning with a 2-RBI single.Â
- A solo home run by Zeke Gilbert in the seventh scored Covenant's 11th and final run of the day.Â
GAME NOTES:
- Covenant moves to 20-3 all-time against Berea.Â
- Covenant outhit Berea 13-10.
- Berea committed five errors while Covenant had one.
- Gilbert led the Scots with three hits while Bell, Adelgren, and Chris Savage each had two hits.Â
- RHP Zach Barrett (5.2 IP, 6 H, 6 ER, 2 BB, 4 K) earned the win on the mound.Â
- RHP Jackson Rau (0.1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB), RHP Jaden Carlson (2 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 2 K), and RHP Jonathan Glover (1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 2 K) each pitched in relief.Â
