LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - After taking game one in the series on Friday, Covenant needed just one win on Saturday over Belhaven to win its second consecutive CCS series. Behind a late rally in game three, the Scots did just that to move to 5-4 in conference.
Game 1 Final: Covenant 2, Belhaven 8
Records: Covenant (11-17, 4-4 CCS), Belhaven (15-11, 4-3 CCS)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Owen Abney for Belhaven opened the scoring with a 3-run home run in the first inning.
- Kolby Kimberly made it 3-1 with a RBI single to center field in the fourth inning.
- In the fifth inning, Belhaven extended its lead to 4-1 with a RBI sacrifice fly to center field.
- The Blazers made it 5-1 in the eighth inning, scoring a run on a wild pitch.
- Another RBI sacrifice fly and a 2-RBI single up the middle made it 8-1 Blazers in the ninth inning.
- Ben Johnson knocked a RBI single in the bottom of the frame that scored Chase McBryar.
GAME NOTES:
- Belhaven outhit Covenant 11-7.
- Belhaven had three errors while Covenant had none.
- Kimberly and McBryar each had two hits to lead the Scots offensively.
- RHP Zach Barrett (6 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 5 K, 3 HBP) took the loss on the mound.
Game 2 Final: Covenant 4, Belhaven 3

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Abney led off the second inning with a home run to put Belhaven in front.
- Later in the frame, an infield error led to another run to make it 2-0.
- Covenant got on the board in the second inning as Harrison Adelgren drew a bases-loaded walk.
- Belhaven scored its final run in the fourth inning via a RBI double to left-center field.
- Covenant began its rally in the seventh inning as Kenny Mills made it 3-2 with a RBI single to right field.
- In the eighth inning, Cody Gibson tied the game with a RBI single to right field.
- Belhaven had the bases loaded in the ninth inning, but a 6-4-3 double play ended the scoring threat.
- In the bottom of the frame, the Scots loaded the bases before Daniel Bell took a HBP to end the game and the series.
GAME NOTES:
- Covenant moves to 3-4 all-time against Belhaven.
- Covenant outhit Belhaven 10-8.
- The Scots committed six errors while the Blazers had three.
- Mills and Johnson both tallied two hits to lead the Covenant offense.
- RHP Scotty Smith (7 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 1 HBP) went seven innings on the bump.
- RHP Aeden Beuning (2 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 K) earned the win in relief.
