MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The day after finishing its opening conference series, Covenant was right back on the road to take on in-state rival Berry. The Scots never recovered from an early deficit as they dropped their first of two meetings with the Vikings this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- A 2-RBI single followed by a pair of RBI singles put the Vikings ahead 4-0 in the first inning.Â
- Cody Gibson scored on wild pitch in the third inning to put the Scots on the board.Â
- An infield error by Covenant allowed Berry to score two more runs in the third inning to go up 6-1.Â
- Two more RBI singles for the Vikings pushed their lead to 8-1 in the fifth inning.Â
- Covenant loaded the bases in the eighth inning, but was unable to bring any runners home.Â
- Chris Savage and Carson Ragland each had a RBI single in the ninth inning for the Scots, but it was too little too late.Â
GAME NOTES:
- Covenant moves to 7-33 all-time against Berry.
- Berry outhit Covenant 15-8.
- Each team had one error.
- Gibson and Savage each had two hits to lead the Covenant offense.Â
- Jaden Carlson, Darren Zhang, and Grayson Sturgell all threw scoreless innings out of the bullpen for Covenant.Â
