ROSSVILLE, Ga. - At Ridgeland High School, Covenant hosted Asbury for its first home games of the season. The Scots took game one, but the Eagles bounced back in game two to split the series.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
- The Scots scored two in the first inning thanks to a 2-RBI single through the left side by Oliva Stefl that scored Helena Nagy and Mary Elaine Mitchell.Â
- With the bases loaded in the second inning, a RBI groundout for Asbury put it on the board.Â
- The next batter tied the game with an infield RBI single.Â
- In the fourth inning, a bases-loaded walk by Mitchell put the Scots in front.Â
- Nagy made it 4-2 later in the frame with an RBI fielder's choice that scored Madison Taylor, who came in to pinch run.Â
- Thanks to an infield error, the inning continued as Covenant added three more runs, highlighted by a RBI single through the left side by Taylor Murdock.Â
- The Eagles had two runners on in the sixth inning, but Mackenzie Kirby got out of the jam to keep the Scots up five runs.Â
GAME NOTES:
- Ashlyn Gaines, Stefl, Murdock, Makenna Dance, and Kirby each had one of Covenant's five hits.Â
- Mitchell reached base twice via walks.
- Kirby picked up the complete game win (7 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 5 BB, 1 K).
- Asbury committed two errors while Covenant was clean defensively.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
- Gaines brought home what turned out to be Covenant's only run of the game with a RBI sac-fly to center field in the first inning.
- Abigail Moffat tied the game at one with a home run to left-center field for Asbury in the third inning.
- Moffat blasted her second home run of the game to give the Eagles the lead in the fifth inning.
- Asbury added another run in the fifth on a RBI double to right-center field.Â
- The Eagles made it 5-1 in the sixth inning as a 2-RBI single up the middle gave them some more cushion.Â
- Covenant had two hits in the seventh inning, but were unable to push a run across.Â
GAME NOTES:
- Covenant moves to 3-2 all-time against Asbury.
- Asbury outhit Covenant 8-5.Â
- Murdock recorded her 100th career hit with a base knock in the seventh inning.
- Nagy, Stefl, Murdock, Dance, and Kathleen Carpenter each had a hit for the Scots.
- On the mound, Murdock took a no decision in her first start of the year (4 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K).
- Neither team committed an error.Â
