ATLANTA, Ga. - Covenant hit the road for the first time, playing two games at Emory. The Eagles had the upper hand though, taking the win in both games.Â
Game 1 Final: Covenant 2, Emory 7
Records: Covenant (3-6), Emory (6-6)
HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
- A 2-out RBI single for the Eagles in the first inning put them ahead 1-0.Â
- Emory extended its lead to 6-0 in the third inning highlighted by a pair of RBI doubles. The other three runs were scored on a RBI sac-fly, a double-steal and a throwing error.Â
- Kenny Mills put Covenant on the scoreboard with a 2-RBI single to right field that scored Zeke Gilbert and Kolby Kimberly.
- Emory scored its seventh and final run of the game in the seventh inning via a RBI single to center field.Â
- Covenant was retired in order in the eighth and ninth innings.Â
GAME NOTES:
- Covenant was outhit 12-4 by Emory.Â
- Gilbert, Mills, Josh McCaskill, and Kimberly each had a hit for the Scots.Â
- RHP Bryce Bollinger suffered his first loss of his senior campaign (6 IP, 9 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 4 K).

HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
- Gilbert got the game started the right way for Covenant with a solo home run in the first inning.
- RHP Scotty Smith held the Eagles scoreless in the first four innings.
- Kimberly drove in Ben Johnson with a RBI double to left field in the fifth inning.Â
- A bases-loaded walk and a RBI sac-fly by Mills later in the frame put Covenant ahead 4-0.Â
- Emory got its first run in the fifth inning with a RBI single to right field.Â
- As the inning continued, a bases-loaded balk and a wild pitch made it 4-3.Â
- Kimberly picked up his second RBI of the game with a RBI single to left field to make it 5-3 in the sixth inning.Â
- Emory scored two runs in the seventh inning, the latter being on a passed ball to keep the originally scheduled seven-inning game going.
- Elliot Eastin delivered a pinch-hit 2-RBI single through the right side to put the Scots up 7-5 in extra innings.Â
- A RBI fielder's choice from Emory made it 7-6, but put Covenant one out away from the win.Â
- Nick Wilson had the clutch hit, as he knocked a 2-RBI single up the middle to walk it off for the Eagles.Â
GAME NOTES:
- Covenant moves to 11-18 all-time against Emory.
- Hits were in favor of Emory, 15-9.Â
- Emory committed four errors while Covenant had two.Â
- Johnson (2-for-3) and Kimberly (2-for-3, 2 RBIs, BB) each had strong games offensively.Â
- Smith took a no decision in his longest outing of the year (4 IP, 8 H, 2 ER, 2 K).
