ATLANTA, Ga. - In the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament, Covenant faced a tall task, taking on No. 5 Emory on its home court. The Eagles turned out to be too strong as they swept the Scots, knocking them out of the postseason for the second year in a row.

FIRST SET:
- The Eagles built a lead early on at 9-4 after scoring five straight points with the help of two service aces.
- Covenant got the next point and rode Sarah Jennings' service rotation to tie the set back at nine.
- A kill by Scarlett Martz ended a 4-0 Emory run as Covenant trailed 15-12.
- The Scots kept climbing their way back as a kill from Kelsey Carman tied the set at 19.
- Emory scored the next four points and then a block solo ended the set in its favor at 25-21.
SECOND SET:
- A 7-1 run for the Eagles put them up 12-6 and led to a Covenant timeout.
- Another service ace for Jennings followed by a kill from Kelsey Carman drew the Scots closer at 15-11.
- Covenant struggled to draw any closer in the next few points as an Emory kill made it 21-15.
- Back-to-back kills from Kate LaRocco ended the set in Emory's favor at 25-17.
THIRD SET:
- The Eagles kept their foot on the gas offensively in the early goings as four consecutive kills made it 10-4.
- The two teams went point-for-point for the next several minutes as a kill from Hannah Mathis cut the Emory lead to 14-9.
- Covenant failed to immediately draw any closer as Emory extended its lead to 20-12 after a Covenant attack error and an offensive kill.
- The Scots attempted to muster a comeback as four kills in a row, two being from Mathis, made it 21-17.
- An Emory timeout stopped Covenant's momentum as it took the set 25-18 and the match.
GAME NOTES:
- Covenant moves to 3-19 all-time against Emory.
- The Scots are now 2-5 all-time in the NCAA Division III Tournament.
- Covenant was led by Mathis with 12 kills with a .545 hitting percentage in her final college game.
- Sandhoff posted 14 assists and seven digs for the Scots.
- Delaney Stirm tallied seven kills on 15 attacks.
