JACKSON, Miss. - Covenant traveled south for the CCS Championship Meet looking to bring silverware back to Lookout Mountain. The Scots did just that as the Men finished first in the 8k, winning the CCS Championship for the first time in school history. With 33 points, Covenant finished 12 points above second-place Piedmont.Â
Women's Cross Country had a strong showing as well, placing second in the 6k for the second year in a row. Covenant had 61 points and trailed first-place Asbury by 19 points.Â
MEN'S RESULTS
- Josiah Mellott led the charge for Covenant, placing third with a time of 26:49.06. This marks his third top-10 finish of the fall.
- Right behind Mellott was Daniel Bowles with a time of 26:50.79 and a fourth-place result. Bowles also finished fourth in the CCS Championship Meet in 2023.
- It was a sixth-place finish for Ethan Saiki. The sophomore completed the race in 27:24.63.
- Sneaking into the top-10 with a ninth-place finish was Samuel Harrelson with a time of 28:36.67. This marks the highest finish he has had in three years with the Scots.
- The final runner that counted for Covenant's team score was Chandler Lines who placed 11th with a time of 28:43.42 for his highest ever result on the leaderboard.
- Alex Burns (13th, 28:52.95), Troy Daniel (14th, 28:53.34), Aidan DeVries (18th, 29:08.45), Ethan Caswell (21st, 29:17.07), John Purtill (25th, 29:46.41), Jack Dupree (29th, 30:28.76), Andor Agusstson (32nd, 30:44.76), and Jacob Howington (35th, 20:53.66) also raced for the Scots.Â
WOMEN'S RESULTS
- Emerson Tillery finished third-place with a time of 24:15.61 to lead Covenant. Third-place is the best finish of her career in any college meet.Â
- Next up for the Scots was Evangelia Berry with a time of 25:11.47 to finish fifth. This is a slight improvement from 2023 where she placed fifth at the Conference Championship Meet.
- Lydia Moore placed 12th in her final CCS Championship Meet with a time of 25:43.24.Â
- Next up for the Scots was Greta McLean who placed 18th with a time of 26:16.36. 18th was the best result of the fall for the freshman.
- Covenant's final runner that counted for its team score was Kenzi Stapleton with a 25th-place result and a time of 26:56.52.
- Sophia Velleco (27th, 27:23.20), Maggie McGinley (28th, 27:36.56), Claire Mellott (31st, 27:55.53), Kali Hina (37th, 30:46.69) were the other Covenant competitors.Â
