Box Score LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - Looking to pick up a conference win, Covenant took on Huntingdon. The Scots couldn't hold onto their lead late, dropping a close one to the Hawks, 77-74.

FIRST HALF:
- The Scots raced out to a 9-2 lead in the opening three minutes, which led to a Hawks timeout.
- Huntingdon clawed its way back and tied the game at 12 with a fast-break layup.
- Covenant went scoreless for over five minutes before Jesse Kinard knocked down a jumper to cut the Huntingdon lead to 17-14.
- Huntingdon kept pushing forward as a 3-pointer with 7:15 remaining pushed its lead to double-digits at 26-16.
- Compere made layups while being fouled on back-to-back possessions to get the Scots back to within four points at 29-25.
- Compere kept calling his own number as seven more points from the sophomore put Covenant down just two points.
- Huntingdon had the final basket of the half and led 37-33.
SECOND HALF:
- Jonathan Gernatt and Compere each made a triple in the opening two minutes to tie the game at 39.
- The Scots found success at the free throw line as Kinard made four attempts and Colt Donley made two attempts to go ahead 47-43.
- Huntingdon responded with a 9-2 run to take back the lead 52-49 with 12:05 remaining.
- Covenant came back to tie the game before Kinard made a triple to put it in front 56-53.
- Gernatt and Compere each got baskets to go inside as the Scots continued to lead 62-58.
- A 3-pointer by Luke Crowden and a pair of made free throws from Gus Hood gave Covenant its biggest lead of the night at 69-62 with 4:45 remaining.
- Just over a minute later, Huntingdon tied the game on a 3-pointer.
- With the Scots up one point, both teams went scoreless for just over 90 seconds.
- Huntingdon took the lead with 14 seconds on a layup inside.
- On the ensuing possession, Kinard's 3-pointer went halfway down before rimming out.
- The Scots got another chance with two seconds to tie the game after Huntingdon made a pair of free throws, but their half-court heave fell short.
GAME NOTES:
- Covenant drops to 19-11 all-time against Huntingdon.
- Compere scored a career-high 29 points, with 22 points coming in the first half.
- Kinard posted a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds.
- Gernatt was also in double-figures with 11 points.
- Covenant shot 39.4% (26-66) from the field while Huntingdon was 48.5% (32-66).
- The Scots were outrebounded 44-30.
