BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Covenant traveled to Birmingham Southern for its first road game of the 2023 season. The Scots fell victim to a last-second goal from the Panthers to leave town with just a draw.

HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
- With a save in the ninth minute, Lucy Sandhoff broke the Covenant career saves record.
- Covenant had three corner kicks in a two-minute span in the first half, but could not put the ball in the back of the net off of one.Â
- At halftime, BSC had nine shots while Covenant had four, but the match was still scoreless.Â
- Emma Riggs gave Covenant the lead in the 56th minute with an unassisted goal, her first of the season.Â
- Not long after the first goal, Covenant got a second by way of an unassisted goal by Lila Wiley.Â
- Millie Mathis got the Panthers back into the game in the 79th with a goal.Â
- With the final seconds winding down, BSC got the equalizer by way of a Juliet Williams goal assisted by Chaislyn Godleski.Â
GAME NOTES:Â
- Covenant moves to 6-8-3 all-time against Birmingham Southern.
- The Scots are unbeaten in their last four meetings with the Panthers.
- Sandhoff has 306 career saves, No. 1 all-time in Covenant history.Â
- BSC finished with 18 shots with nine on goal while Covenant had 15 shots with six on goal.
- Wiley's goal was the first of her career, in just her second college game.
- The Scots had five corner kicks and the Panthers had four.
