Scots Keep Clean Sheet, Defeat Asbury

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - Covenant hosted Asbury on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Scotland Yard. The Scots used an early goal in both the first and second halves to get the win over the Eagles.

Final: Covenant 2, Asbury 0
Records: Covenant (2-1-4, 1-0-1 CCS), Asbury (1-4-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Rachel Wall put Covenant in front in the 10th minute, after finding the end of a free kick from Reece Black
  • Asbury immediately came on the offensive attack after play restarted, but Reese Bolton's shot was saved by Lucy Sandhoff
  • Leah Marr had a look on goal in the 36th minute, however her shot flared out right.
  • Covenant had a corner kick a few minutes before halftime, but couldn't muster a shot off of it.
  • At the half Covenant had five shots and Asbury had four.
  • The Asbury goalkeeper fouled Wall in the box, giving Marr a penalty kick opportunity that she didn't waste. Marr blasted the ball into the right side of the net to give Covenant a 2-0 lead.
  • Bronwyn Kickasola came in at goalie in the second half and made her first career save in the 74th minute.
  • Covenant had three good looks later in the game from Blythe Jelley, Wall, and Black, but the finish was missing for each chance.
