LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - For its first game after the Thanksgiving break, Covenant welcomed Welch College to Barnes P.E. Center. The Scots couldn't quite hang with the Flames for 40 minutes, as they fell 87-68.Â

FIRST HALF:
- Welch made its first three attempts from behind the arc to jump out to a 9-2 lead.Â
- Covenant fought back and took the lead at 12-11 with a layup from Logan Pearlman.Â
- The Flames rode an 11-2 scoring run to take a 22-14 lead with 13:56 remaining.Â
- The Scots found success inside with buckets from David Compere, Pearlman, and Fisher Mitchell to stay within four points at 28-24.
- With 5:05 remaining, Welch drilled a 3-pointer to open up a 39-30 lead.Â
- Pearlman scored his ninth and final points of the half on an old-fashioned 3-point play to cut the Welch lead to seven.Â
- The Flames got an inside basket in the final minute to take a 49-40 advantage into the locker room.Â
SECOND HALF:
- The Scots were held scoreless for just short of the first three minutes of the second half, as a layup from Pearlman ended the drought.
- Jonathan Gernatt knocked down a jumper to cut the lead to 59-49 with 13:23 remaining.Â
- An 8-0 run for Welch pushed its lead to 18 points.
- The two teams traded baskets for the next several minutes, as the score showed 75-59 after a made shot from Gus Hood.Â
- A 7-2 run for the Flames pushed them ahead 84-63 with just over two minutes left in the game.Â
- Colt Donley hit his second triple of the game right before the buzzer as the Scots were defeated 87-68.Â
GAME NOTES:Â
- Covenant drops to 1-4Â all-time against Welch, formerly known as Free Will Baptist.
- Gernatt led all scorers with 19 points where he was a perfect 8-of-8 from the free throw line.
- Compere scored 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting.
- Welch had five different players score in double-figures, led by Draven Smith and E.J. Byrd who each had 15 points.Â
- Covenant shot 42.9% (24-56) from the field while Welch was 57.6% (38-66).
- Welch had 32 points off of Covenant's 20 turnovers and Covenant had nine points off of Welch's 11 turnovers.Â
