LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - Looking for a big nonconference victory, Covenant welcomed No. 5 Emory to Lookout Mountain. Behind a packed crowd on Pink Night, the Scots made a statement to the rest of the country by beating the undefeated Eagles in four sets.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
- The Scots and the Eagles went back-and-forth in the early stages of the first set, as a kill from Emma Kalbfleisch tied the set at eight.Â
- A couple of attack errors by Emory and a service ace from Sarah Jennings gave Covenant a small cushion at 16-13.
- Emory didn't back down as it fought its way back to tie the set at 18.Â
- Three consecutive attack errors from the Eagles on the deciding points gave the Scots set one 25-21.Â
- Emory jumped out to a 6-3 lead at the beginning of set two.Â
- After Covenant got back to within one point, a 7-1 scoring run for Emory gave it a 15-8 lead.Â
- Behind kills from Hannah Haerer and Cali Sandhoff, Covenant got back to within five points at 21-16.
- The Eagles ended the set strong with four consecutive points to take set two 25-16 and tie the match at one.Â
- In set three, Covenant took advantage of five errors from Emory to lead 8-5.Â
- Kills from Sandhoff and Bailey pushed Covenant's lead to 16-12.
- Emory continued to give Covenant its best shot and got back to within one point at 22-21.Â
- A couple of kills from Kalbfleisch and Sandhoff, both assisted by Bartlett, plus an attack error from Emory ended the set 25-22 in Covenant's favor.Â
- Once again taking advantage of attack errors from Emory, Covenant scored five of the first six points in set four.Â
- Behind kills from Kalbfleisch and Kelsey Carman, the Scots pushed their lead to 14-6.
- A 7-1 run put the Scots on the brink of victory with a 22-10 advantage in the fourth set.Â
- Bartlett closed the game with a service ace to win set four 25-13 and the match.Â
GAME NOTES:
- Covenant moves to 3-16 all-time against Emory.Â
- The win marks the first over a ranked opponent since 2021 when the Scots defeated No. 19 Birmingham Southern.
- Emory is the highest ranked team the Scots have beaten since joining NCAA Division III.Â
- Leading the way in kills for Covenant was Kalbfleisch with 10, plus Bailey and Hearer with nine.Â
- Bartlett had a double-double with 32 assists and 10 digs.Â
- Jennings tallied 20 digs while Carman had 16.
