DEMOREST, Ga. -- The Covenant women's tennis team saw its four-match win streak come to an end on Saturday with a 9-0 loss at Piedmont in USA South action at the Burgen Tennis Courts.
Covenant (9-8, 4-1 USA South) had won four straight and its first four USA South matches entering Saturday. Piedmont (20-3, 6-0 USA South) extends its winning streak to five.
The host Lions took command in the match by sweeping doubles play. Covenant's
Madelyn Savage and
Gillian Bosko battled at the top flight with Piedmont's Rachel Marsh and Abbey Grace Venham before falling by an 8-4 margin.
Piedmont took the other two flights in doubles in sweeps.
The Lions then clinched the match at the No. 3 spot as Melissa Gish downed
Lauren Carr 6-0, 6-3. At No. 4,
Nicole Restrepo hung with Marion Sloyan but ultimately fell to the opponent by a 6-4, 6-3 final.
