LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant men's tennis team saw its five-match win streak halted in a 9-0 loss to No. 33-ranked Sewanee on Wednesday evening at the Covenant Tennis Complex.
It was the first loss for Covenant (10-5) since March 7. Sewanee, ranked No. 33 in the nation and No. 8 in the region, goes to 8-11 overall.
The Scots put up a fight in the doubles portion, but fell in all three contests.
Austin Dreslinski and
Solomon Crouch fell to Peyton Erck and Quinn Wicklund, 8-3, at the top spot.
Gill Dunn and
Ethan Gibson were defeated by an 8-5 final by Liam Selvido and Gil Weston at No. 2, while
Ben Luke and
Camden Lashley fell to Noah Holsclaw and Ryan Wax, 8-2, at No. 3.
Dreslinski took Holsclaw, ranked No. 20 in the region, to three sets at the top flight in singles before falling 6-1, 3-6, 6-3. Dunn saw his nine-match singles win streak snapped at No. 5. despite a strong showing against Jackson Davis in a 6-3, 6-3 loss. Crouch also played tight with Weston at No. 4 in a 6-2, 6-3 defeat.
