ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Covenant men's tennis team extended its win streak to four with an 8-1 win over Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday night at the USTA National Campus in Orlando.
It was the first of six matches for Covenant (5-3) in Florida over the next five days. It was the Scots' fourth straight win.
After taking a 2-1 lead in doubles, Covenant swept through singles play to take the victory.
Austin Dreslinski won his fourth straight singles match at the No. 1 flight with 6-2, 6-2 win over Ohio Wesleyan's Jose Mancilla.
Ethan Gibson downed Alex Riess at No. 2 flight 6-1, 6-3, while
Solomon Crouch took down Marcelo Aguilar at No. 3 6-0, 6-3.
Gill Dunn,
Chris Morton, and
Cameron Cortman took the final three spots in singles play. Dunn won 6-0, 6-1 over Tucker Strawser at No. 4, while Morton was a 6-2, 6-4 winner over Grant Brooks at No. 5. Cortman capped the win with his 6-0, 6-0 victory over Elliot Spicer at No. 6.
In doubles, Dunn and Gibson combined for an 8-1 win over Spicer and Aguilar at No. 2.
Tyler Kelly and
Camden Lashley were 8-3 winners over Brooks and Strawser at No. 3.
