Scots Fall to Wheaton, Saint John's Match Suspended

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. -- The Covenant men's tennis team saw its four-match win streak snapped and then rain halted the second match of the day on Monday in Florida. The Scots fell to Wheaton (Ill.), 6-3, on Monday afternoon.

Monday night's contest with Saint John's was suspended due to rain. The teams plan to pick up the match on Tuesday afternoon.

Covenant (5-4) took the top doubles flight, but Wheaton grabbed the other two points in doubles play. Austin Dreslinski and Solomon Crouch combined for an 8-7 win at the top spot.

In singles play, Gill Dunn and Cameron Cortman took points for the Scots. Dunn won his sixth straight singles match with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Tim Steiner at the No. 4 spot. Cortman won in three sets over Michael Walmer 7-5, 4-6 1-0 (10-4).

Dreslinski dropped a tough, three-set match to Cody Ching at the No. 1 flight 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (10-6), while Crouch also narrowly fell to Jack Wenzel 6-4, 7-6 at No. 3.

In the nightcap, Covenant led 3-0 over Saint John's after doubles play. Rain through the area halted play in singles.
