MARYVILLE, Tenn. -- Back in USA South play, the Covenant women's tennis team cruised past Maryville, 9-0, on Tuesday afternoon on the road.
Covenant (6-7, 2-0 USA South) did not drop a set and picked up two default wins against Maryville (1-6, 0-2 USA South).
The Scots mixed up the lineup as
Madelyn Savage and
Jess Brown teamed up at the top flight in doubles to take an 8-2 win over Melanie Kowalewski and Abby Diggs.
Kacey Melton and
Dani Rappuhn were 8-4 winners over Elizabeth Shwaiko and Eliza Cheshire at No. 2 to round out the completed doubles portion of the contest.
Savage notched her eighth singles win of the year, and third in a row, with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Kowalewski at the No. 1 spot.Â
Lauren Carr moved up to the No. 2 flight in singles and defeated Diggs by a 6-2, 6-2 margin.
Nicole Restrepo took down Cheshire at No. 3 by a 6-1, 6-0 final, while
Alexis Baker defeated Shwaiko 6-4, 6-1 at No. 4.
Anna Logan capped the win with her 6-0, 6-1 victory over Abby Smither at No. 5.
UP NEXT
Covenant plays a pair of matches on Saturday in the Atlanta area. The Scots face Agnes Scott (1 p.m.) in a USA South contest before facing Hendrix (4 p.m.).
