LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant women's tennis team suffered an 8-1 loss to Berry on Thursday evening at the Covenant Tennis Complex.
Covenant drops to 5-7 on the year, while Berry goes to 5-3.
Madelyn Savage, the reigning USA South Player of the Week, continued her winning ways with a victory at the top flight in singles play. Savage downed Juliana Mascagni in three sets 6-4, 1-6, 10-6.Â
The win was Savage's team-best seventh in singles play this season, all coming at the top spot.
Berry took all three doubles matches to build a 3-0 lead. Savage and
Gillian Bosko fell 8-2 at the top flight to Kathryn Barker and Lauren Masteller.
Nicole Restrepo and
Lauren Carr took an 8-3 loss at No. 2, while
Kacey Melton and
Dani Rappuhn fell by the same score at the No. 3 spot.
Carr was also edged in singles play as she dropped a hard-fought 6-2, 7-5 decision to Masteller at No. 3.Â
