LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant women's tennis team rolled to a 7-2, USA South-opening, victory over Brevard on a chilly Saturday afternoon at the Covenant Tennis Complex.

The win for Covenant (5-6, 1-0 USA South) marked the ninth consecutive season that the Scots won the conference opener. With the Scots headed to the new Collegiate Conference of the South next season, Covenant finishes 9-0 all-time in USA South openers.

The Scots took care of business in doubles play to build a 3-0 lead. Madelyn Savage and Gillian Bosko took an 8-1 win over Brevard's Hamrick Perry and Sophie Trantham at the top flight. At the No. 2 spot, Nicole Restrepo and Lauren Carr worked together for an 8-4 win over Hannah Hersh and Brooke Garland, while Kacey Melton and Dani Rappuhn were 8-3 winners at No. 3 over Alli Kogoy and Melody Ferguson to complete the doubles sweep.

Savage and Bosko picked up their second wins of the day at the top two flights in singles play. Savage was a 6-0, 6-2 winner over Hersh at the top spot and Bosko took a 6-4, 6-4 win over Perry at No. 2. Bosko's singles win was her third straight.

Restrepo also collected two wins in the match as she claimed a 6-1, 6-0 decision over Garland at No. 4. Jordan Lancaster capped the win with her 6-3, 6-2 victory over Ferguson at No. 6.
