DECEMBER 7– Covenant Men's Basketball picked up a win on the road last Wednesday as they traveled to Mississippi to take on the Owls of MUW.
Â
During the first half, MUW immediately took the lead, at one point extending their advantage to nine points. However, after knocking down three three-pointers in a row, two of coming from
Charlie Hester, Covenant evened out the score to 22-22 with just seven and half minutes remaining during the first period.
Â
After Hester tipped the momentum with his sharp shooting, the Scots went on a run to end the first half 41-33.
Â
The second half stayed in the Scots' favor as Covenant kept a comfortable lead throughout.
Promise Igbanu continued to display his control of the court this season, helping the Scots extend their lead to 16 points after scoring four baskets in a row. Igbanu finished the night with 31 points, nine rebounds, three steals, and a block.

Â
DECEMBER 10– Covenant then went on to host Greenville at home the following Saturday. The matchup between the Scots and the Panthers had 11 ties and 10 lead changes throughout the course of the game. After a tight first and second half, the two teams headed into overtime after a
Malcolm Noel layup tied the score 92-92 during the final minute of regulation.
Â
Though the first few minutes of overtime was a series of traded baskets between the two teams, the score became tied once more at 100-100 with just under two minutes to go. The Panthers then went on a 6-0 scoring run to take the lead.
Â
A three-pointer from
Logan Pearlman cut the Panther's lead down to three, but the Scots fouled on one final fast break with 6.0 seconds remaining. Greenville's Travis Dickey knocked down the last two free throws, setting the Panthers up by five with no time left for the Scots to score. Covenant fell in overtime 103-108.
Â
Several Scots earned double digit points by the end of the hard-fought battle against Greenville.
Promise Igbanu was the scoring leader once again, notching a double-double with 34 points and 19 rebounds. Igbanu's performances in this past week's contests led him to back-to-back CCS Player of the Week honors.
