The women's soccer team is hosting Agnes Scott College tomorrow at 4:30 for Senior Day. Honoring seniors
Lillie Cate and
Lucy Sandhoff, the Lady Scots are looking to for a win. Covenant Women's Soccer has not seen a win in the past three games, tying two and falling once.
The past few conference match-ups have been against the Berea Mountaineers, the Maryville Scots, and the Huntingdon Hawks.
While the Lady Scots were able to put two goals up against the Mountaineers, Berea was able to hold their own and tie the game back up 2-2. The Scots' first goal came from
Lydia Osborne, her first of the season, and for a short time the Scots held a 2-1 lead.
Leah Marr put Covenant ahead 15 minutes into the second half, but Alyssa Tittsworth came in to give Berea their second and final goal of the night to finalize the game in a tie.
Covenant then fell 0-2 to Maryville last Tuesday, Oct. 11. Maryville put up quite the fight; 67% of the shots that Maryville took were on target, 12 out of the 18 coming for Goalkeeper
Lucy Sandhoff. Sandhoff was the player of the game, making 10 saves on the night and only allowing two to pass through. Over the past three games, the senior has tallied 20 saves, earning her Defensive Player of the Week for the week of October 10
th.
In the game against Huntingdon at home, the Hawks were ready from the start, scoring within the first two minutes. Covenant put up more shots throughout the contest, with 10 on goal.
Nikki Shirley helped the Scots catch up fast, scoring a goal assisted by
Aiden Strawbridge, still early in the first half. However, the Scots could not push past the Hawks. Though out-shooting their opponent, Women's Soccer was stalled at one goal and finished with another tie.
Tomorrow, the Lady Scots are hoping for a game changer as they head into their last few conference games before post-season play begins. Currently, Covenant Women's Soccer sits at sixth in the CCS. Come out and join the Lady Scots as they celebrate their seniors against the Scotties at 4:30.
