Box Score ATLANTA, Ga. -- In their last match at the Emory Classic, the Covenant volleyball team fell in straight sets to the host Eagles. Emory, now 5-0, ranked 4th in the AVCA preseason poll.
The Scots' leaders in kills were Summer Johnson and Riley Howe, who had six apiece. Rachel Bartlett tallied 23 assists and eight digs, while Anna Baldwin added 10 digs.
The No. 4 Eagles ended the match with a team total of 45 kills and a hitting percentage of .354. They were led by Tara Martin with 11 kills and nine digs, and Deborah Hong who had 16 digs.
Emory used a 17-7 run and a .444 hitting percentage to take set one, 25-15. Sets two and three followed with identical scores of 25-19.Â
Covenant took the lead early in set three, until the Eagles tied it up, 10-10. From there, the Eagles would use a 5-0 run to jump ahead and seal their fifth victory of the season in straight sets.
The Scots fall to 2-2.
