LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Summer Johnson, Riley Howe, and Emma Kalbfleisch all had double-digit kills and the Covenant volleyball team rallied for a 3-2 win (20-25, 25-20, 25-18, 12-25, 15-4) over Oglethorpe on Wednesday night inside Barnes PE Center.

The win was the third straight for Covenant (8-6).

Johnson had a career-high 16 kills to go with 15 assists, eight digs, and two blocks in the victory. Howe and Kalbfleisch each had 12 kills and seven digs, while Kalbfleisch hit .333. Rachel Bartlett also produced a double-double with 33 assists and 16 digs.

Oglethorpe (6-8) took the opening set and never trailed in the frame that saw the Stormy Petrels win 25-20.

Covenant fired on all cylinders in the second set as the Scots hit .433 as a group with 15 kills to even the match at 1-1. The Scots then grabbed a 2-1 match lead with a 25-18 third set win.

In the back-and-forth match, Oglethorpe sent the contest into a fifth set with a 25-12 win in the fourth.

Covenant claimed its first five-set win of the year in dominating fashion in the fifth. The Scots had 13 kills, zero errors, and hit .591 in the frame to win 15-4. Kalbfleisch, Johnson, and Kyla Bailey all had kills early in the set as Covenant took a 3-1 lead. The margin stretched to 10-2 on a Howe kill and Howe would finish the match with her 12th kill of the night a few points later.

Bailey added nine kills and eight digs for Covenant. Grace Logterman had five kills and six total blocks, while Meriel Chupp chipped in four kills and two blocks. Anna Baldwin tallied 14 digs.

Oglethorpe was led by Jackie Schner's 15 kills and 10 digs.

Covenant travels to Montgomery, Ala., on Saturday for a USA South tri-match at Huntingdon. The Scots play Huntingdon at 1 p.m. eastern and Agnes Scott at 3 p.m. eastern.
