DEMOREST, Ga. -- In a back-and-forth match, it was Solomon Crouch's three-set victory that broke a 4-4 tie to give the Covenant men's tennis team a 5-4 win at Piedmont in non-conference action on Wednesday.
Covenant (9-4) sweeps the season series from Piedmont (5-10) with the win.
Crouch had to rally back in his match at No. 4 against Chase Morris and then held off Morris in a third set for a 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 victory to give the Scots the win. It was Crouch's team-tying eighth singles win of the year.
Covenant took two points in doubles play. Crouch and Austin Dreslinski teamed up for an 8-3 win over Silas Sandles and Roman Webb at the top flight. At No. 2, Ethan Gibson and Gill Dunn took down Houston Medlock and Morris by an 8-3 score.
In singles play, the teams traded points.
Ben Luke gave Covenant a 3-2 lead with his 6-1, 6-0 victory at the No. 1 spot over Medlock. Dunn took a victory at No. 6 over Patrick Dempsey as he led 4-0 in the opening set before Dempsey retired.
Piedmont knotted the match at 4-4 as Chris Bale outlasted Gibson at No. 3 7-5, 7-6(3). However, Crouch would rally back in his match to notch the win for Covenant.

Covenant will travel to Huntingdon for a USA South match on Saturday. Match time is set for 2 p.m. EDT (1 p.m. CDT).
